Jira
Turn Jira issues with a label, and comments starting with a command, into tasks — webhook setup, signatures, and replies as issue comments.
Create a Jira integration in Settings → Integrations and copy its webhook URL and secret; see the overview for how integrations work.
Webhook
In Jira: Settings → System → WebHooks → Create a WebHook, with the integration's URL and secret, and the events
Issue created, Issue updated and Comment created. Deliveries must carry a valid X-Hub-Signature, which Jira
computes with the secret.
Behaviour
- Issues become tasks when they are created with the configured label, or when the label is added later. With an empty label, every new issue becomes a task.
- Descriptions in Atlassian Document Format are read as text.
- Comments starting with the command (default
/agent) create a task from the rest of the comment. Comments by apps are ignored. - One issue is one task: redeliveries return the existing task.
Replies (optional)
Set the Jira site URL and Token secret for replies to the name of an organization secret that holds:
| Jira | Secret value |
|---|---|
| Cloud | email:API token |
| Data Center | A personal access token |
The issue then gets a comment with the task link when the task is created, and another when it completes, fails or needs attention.
Verification status
Tested against a local fake of Jira's webhooks and REST API, not yet a real Jira site.
